Cooch grass out of control

We have had an outbreak of cooch grass in the veggie patch. Most likely brought in with some cow manure we harvested, this aggressive grass is by far our least favourite weed. In this bed we have taken drastic measures; covered entire bed in black plastic and then a compost on top. We will leave this for at least six months before resuming planting.

Winter Brassica Planting

Now is the time to get your winter brassica
crops, cauliflower, broccoli, kale, and cabbage in the ground.
Unfortunately
the cabbage moth caterpillar, snails and slugs are in abundance so
you’ll need to be diligent. We hand pick/squash the caterpillar and
eggs, snails and slugs every couple of mornings. Remember healthy plants
are
more resilient so make sure your planting healthy plants into rich,
healthy
soil.
